| In case anyone didn't get the email I sent out here is an update on my life. My outlook got funky and I think I sent the email to some ppl twice and it didn't get to some other ppl.... Hey Youth Group and Everyone! Well, I have been procrastinating in writing this email for a few weeks now. It’s hard to convey all my thoughts and feelings into words especially in an email so I’ve been putting it off. Well… this is it… this is an end of a big chapter in my life. As of the end of September I finished my near 3 year commitment to serving as a youth director at my church, CCCTO. Looking back… I wasn’t sure about coming back to live in Agoura Hills after graduating college. In the end I saw why God lead me here. And it’s hard to believe I’ve been here since January 2005! The time has just zipped by so quickly. There have been a lot of good memories like sour cream pie birthday cakes (for Joe Lee), teaching the girls painful Korean games, Bible memory games where you win more Bible memory verses (haha), random Carl’s Jr. runs, driving youth to prom, and lots more. I just reminisce of those memories already and think of all the fun times. I have really enjoyed leading and watching you youth grow, finding your worth in God, and getting to learn about you all these last few years. And even though these years have been rocky at times for me personally, I cherish these times a lot. It’s been an adventure to be apart of youth group and leading it to say the least. In taking on the youth group at the beginning I wasn’t really sure what I was doing (and I’m thankful for the youth for being patient with me during those times). I guess during the beginning you could say every week was a separate adventure. =) Over these years I have made a fair number of mistakes along the way, but I’ve learned a lot about myself, ministry, a great deal from the youth themselves. I wanted to say thanks for your prayers, support, friendship, guest/retreat speaking, meals (and desserts), advice, encouragement, phone calls, meet ups, late night talks/praying, and so much more that you all have done for me and the youth group (and especially those outside of the church who have helped out… there were a lot of you)! I am thankful to God to have the support and love from a family of believers like you guys! So what’s in store for me now? I’m going to be moving out of my parent’s house and into Culver City with some of my college buddies/roommates (Chris Lau, Henry Yeung, and Mike Lee) this weekend, on Nov. 3rd and 4th. This may seem sudden and it is since this was a last minute decision that I made at the beginning of this month. With that said, I’m also going to be attending a different church with this move. It was a hard decision to make as I’ve made some great relationships here at CCCTO and will sorely miss Friday nights with the youth, but I feel like God is telling to move on for the time being. I don’t know where I will be going to church, but I will be searching around for a good one. That said there is a lot that’s up in the air… new church, new relationships to build, new environment… And I am looking to switch jobs as well if possible (but I’ve been saying that for sometime now). Truthfully, I’m somewhat afraid of what’s the come. But I guess that’s half the fun of it all. =) And with that… I ask that you keep me and the youth group in your prayers especially in these next few months. So here are the prayer requests! Prayer requests: - Clear direction for where God wants me to be now and in the future.
- New church home, small group, and etc. To be able to adjust to the new lifestyle and environment.
- For my relationship with my parents and for them to adjust to my new lifestyle and environment. It’s going to be a little rocky as I leave the nest.
- For a clear mind and time to reflect and pray about the last few years. To learn what God was doing and teaching me.
- For Peter Lee as he leads the ACT for Christ youth group for the coming years at CCCTO.
- For the youth group to continue to learn and grow in Christ and be nice to Peter and the other leaders. =)
Well, this is the end of the email. I will miss you youth very much so and am sad that this era has come to an end. You have been my family that I’ve grown close to and I have loved to be apart of the youth group. Nevertheless, I will be back to visit youth group and CCCTO when I can. And I won’t be too far of a drive away, so if anyone wants to come visit or chat, feel free to do so! Here’s my info below: EDIT: <If you want my info leave a comment with your contact info. I just didn't want to leave my mailing addy and other stuff on an open xanga page.> Take care, keep in touch, and keep running the race for God! Your Brother in Christ, David Chang |
